Yueh-Mei Liu Huang, 劉黄月美, age 87 of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019.She was the loving wife of 63 years to Hunghao Liu; devoted mother of Louis Liu (Mei-Li Yu) of Taipei, Taiwan, Jenny Chunpei Liu (the late Morland Chungming Pan) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Julia Chuan-Hsiu Liu Shaw (Michael Shaw) of Wexford; proud grandma of William (Min Min), Winnie, Rebecca and Olivia; sister of Yu Yao, Yu An and Pi-Hsia Huang and the late Yu Sheng, Yu Ting, Yueh-Li, Yueh-Hua, Yueh-Chuan and Wu-Chiang Huang. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 from 3 until 6 PM at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township, (412-364-4444). A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 AM in the Pittsburgh Chinese Church located at 8711 Old Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
Yueh-Mei was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. She moved to Kaohsiung after marrying her husband. She raised her three children while her husband served in the Navy as a Captain of a warship while at sea. They returned to Taipei in 1973. The family immigrated to the United States in 2001 and she proudly became a US citizen in 2019.
She was the first family member to be baptized and then brought her entire family to the Christian Faith. She is also a member of the International Woman's Club and a member of the International Floral Society, both in Taipei. For the past twenty years, she was an active member of the Pittsburgh Chinese Church. Yueh-Mei was always the lady who kept everything in order, was a incredible storyteller and knew how to entertain all those around her in good and bad times.
