Wes is preceded in death by his parents Arthur Wesley Muffett, Sr. and Margaret Jean Muffett, along with his son, Brian Rieske.
Born in Kentucky, Wes grew up in Kentucky and in the Bay Area and had a lifelong interest in cars. On July 11, 1984, Wes met MarNell at a community pool in Pollock Pines, California. MarNell was camping with her son Eric and Wes was there with his children. MarNell gave all the kids a snack to share, and that is where their love story began. Wes and MarNell married a year later.
Wes worked at Stanford University in the Stanford Linear Accelerator Unit for over 25 years. Wes and MarNell lived for many years in the Bay Area town on Pinole and retired to El Dorado in 2006. Wes was the best husband, father, brother, son, grandpa (Papa) and friend. Many of his children’s friends considered him a father figure and all of his neighbors knew they could count on him for help when needed.
Wes’ favorite part of life was to be around family and friends. He loved travelling with MarNell and their dogs (Brodie and Casey), whether camping in their RV or going abroad. He was a simple man but very wise. Wes loved to be by the lake with a fishing pole in his hand. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation. https://dogood.t2t.org/IMOArthurWesleyMuffettJr
