So very sorry to hear of such a loss.  Bonnie was an amazing beautiful woman.  I was blessed to have met her years ago through her nephew David, her sister Marilyn and her daughters Lorrina and Corrina.  Although I wasnt in touch with her for many years, she had a very strong inpact on my life.  You will be missed Bonnie.  Always in my prayers and my thoughts!  My sympathys for her family!

Having shared my life since 1986 with Lorrina and her very close family, I was blessed with the experience of transitioning to adulthood with Bonnie in my life. She was an additional parent to me, and became a model for what a parent does.  
Bonnie was a giving person- at her happiest when she was giving others her time, her resources, and (most of all) her love.  
Bonnie worked in the giving professions from her teens until her cancer was discovered, 45 years later.  Aside from her childhood experiences, her life consisted of a practice of caring for others. I learned from her example as I raised my children and I shared the joys of watching her give to them and love them thoroughly.
Bonnie was also a private person, known well by family and those who fell into her professional care.  I think this privacy may have been necessary for her to give completely without becoming drained by the needs of an entire community.
Following her legacy of care, Bonnie eventually required full assistance to fight an awful disease.  Her close family became the caring warriors that Bonnie had been the template for- available whenever and wherever for long hours and with no clear end in sight. The sacrifice was a struggle in the midst of busy lives, but it was also a blessing- helping us to re-orient to family, to love, and to the act of selfless caring.
I have many memories of Bonnie. In none of these can I recall a selfish moment on her part.  We have lost a warrior of love from our lives.  She, in leaving us, hands off her shield of protection for family and sword of championing those who are in need. To take up these implements and use them well is the greatest legacy Bonnie could have wished for.
In remembrance, I ask that each of you who reads this thinks deeply about what family and unconditional love means. More importantly, I ask that you also take up Bonnie's work, and extend her service beyond her mortal life, into the lives of those you hold dearest.

I have to thank my wonderful husband, Mitch and all who supported him and our children during this last week.  I was blessed with being able to tell my mother how much I loved her over and over, hold her hand while she was awake and asleep, give her a drink when she was thirsty, rub her feet and shoulders when they ached, administer medications when her pain became unbearable, and most importantly, witness her transition from one life to another. 

I know my mom would want me to share with you that you can and must advocate for yourself (and your loved ones) when you are hurting and are in pain and your doctor cannot find the source.  Don't settle.  Keep searching and keep fighting.

My mom and dad did just that and we were blessed with an additional four years with my mom.  She had to fight for all four of those years and because she did, she blessed us with time to adjust, time to learn, time to grieve, time to contemplate, and most importantly; time to share and time to say "I love you", which we did a lot.  

That just about sums up my mom's life.  She sacrificed everything she did and had, to make sure my dad, sister and myself were well cared for and loved.  She most certainly would not describe it as a sacrifice, instead she would describe it as devotion and love, which we never felt a lack of.  Thank you, mom.

I also must thank God for blessing me with such a loving and devoted mother, I thank my grandmother for modeling to my mother what a loving mother is, I thank my dad for being so strong and advocating for my mom, I thank my aunt Marilyn for "stepping in" every time she was needed, I thank my sister for always being there for me and never judging me, I thank my children for understanding that I needed time with just my mom, and I thank the Cedar Springs Waldorf community  for watching over my children, my husband and myself.  I thank all who kept us in their prayers and thoughts through out this difficult time.
