Bonnie Lou Thompson passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at the age of 65.Born in Bethesda, Ohio to Earl and Martha Skaggs. Bonnie moved to California in 1966 with her parents and siblings. She met the love of her life, Thomas Thompson, through a friend who was serving in the Vietnam War. Tom came to Placerville to meet Bonnie and 29 days later they were married. Together they raised two daughters, Corrina and Lorrina.
Bonnie owned and operated Golden Book Residential Care in Shingle Springs for many years. She was a lifelong caregiver to the elderly and developmentally disabled. She enjoyed gardening and listening to music bur her greatest joy in life was her family. Bonnie dedicated her life to caring for others. She fought a very courageous battle with cancer for four long years without ever giving up and always staying positive.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tom; her daughters, Corrina (Eric) Winje, Lorrina (Mitch) Foster; grandchildren, Joshua and Ashlyn Winje, Zachary, Austin, Grant and Chloe Foster; sister Marilyn Todd and brother Richard Skaggs and numerous nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Martha Skaggs, brother, Charles Skaggs and nephews, Mario and David Todd.
Graveside services will be held at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, 2720 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville on Friday, December 16th at 2:00 p.m. with a celebration of life immediately following at her daughter, Lorrina’s, home.
