

Services for Calvin (Cedar) L. Brewer, 89, of Placerville, who died April 2nd will be Monday, April 9th at 10 am at Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Pimentel will officiate. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery and arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Pines.
Born in Mayfield, Oklahoma, Mr. Brewer lived in California for 65 years. Working as an Operating Engineer for 28 years in Orange County, he worked on projects such as building the original Disneyland and the Southern California freeway system. Upon retirement, he and his wife Sue moved to Placerville where he lived for 39 years and fulfilled his lifelong dream of raising cattle. After 20 years of successfully raising cattle, he settled down to create with his hands. He began to make canes for anyone who needed them. At the Oncology Office, he gave away more than 100 canes and he carried his handmade canes in the back of his truck in case he met someone in need. You will find his canes on show at the Train Station restaurant in Shingle Springs where he loved to eat breakfast.
Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his wife Sue. Mr. Brewer is survived by one sister Irene Wade of Perryton Texas, his sons Robert and Ronald Brister of Nevada, and son Lemoin Brewer, and daughters Sheron Ayers and Elizabeth Taylor of Placerville. In addition to his 5 children, Mr. Brewer is survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
