Corrina Dee Thompson was born in Alameda, Ca on February 9, 1968. She was raised in Placerville, Ca where she resided throughout her life. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1985, a year ahead of schedule. Corrina attended Consumnes River College and National Career Education Center.
For a short time she owned We Are Balloons and enjoyed making balloon bouquets for various celebrations but her lifelong employment consisted of service to others. Corrina worked as a care provider for the elderly, an employment and life coach as well as program manager for adults with developmental disabilities and was a counselor for youth in group homes. She had a tremendous amount of compassion for all population groups that she served and genuinely cared for her clients. Corrina also had a soft spot for the homeless population and was known to happily give her last dollar.
As a teenager, she loved fashion and modeling and participated in the Miss El Dorado Pageant in 1985 and pursued modeling for a couple of years. She also enjoyed gardening wherever she lived and for many years had two adopt-a-spots at the El Dorado County Fair Grounds; one was for her family to work on and one for her clients. She also enjoyed painting along with other forms of arts and crafts.
Her favorite vacations were any place where she could sink her toes in the sand and listen to the waves crashing on the shore. An alternative to the beach was a quick trip to Tahoe.
Corrina passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 19th, 2021. She is survived by her children Joshua and Ashlyn Winje, her father Thomas Thompson, her sister Lorrina (Mitch) Foster, her nephews Zach (Morgan) Foster and their children, Austin (Hallie) Foster, Grant Foster and her niece Chloe Foster. She was preceded in death by her mother Bonnie Thompson.
Mom, you will forever be my best friend, biggest confidant, inspiration, and most of all my mom. You will always have my heart. I love you to the moon and back. Not a day will go by that we won’t think about you, until we meet again, rest in eternal peace in the presence of our Lord. ~Ashlyn
