July 22, 1940 ~ June 4, 2025
Douglas Albright, Sr., age 84, of Somerset, California, passed away on June 4, 2025.
Doug was born on July 22, 1940, in Rochester, New York, to Eyla Walling Albright and Robert Albright, Sr. He completed trade school and later served honorably in the US Navy.
After his service, Doug moved to California where he married, started a family, and pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a rancher. The family moved to Shingle Springs, CA where he was able to start cattle ranching as he had always dreamed. Always seeking to push his limits, Doug moved to Shoshone, Idaho to expand his cattle ranching operation. Eventually, he found his way back to California where he lived out his remaining years on his ranch in Somerset, CA doing what he loved most, raising cattle and working the land.
Doug was a man defined by hard work and self-sufficiency, living life on his own terms. He was not one to embrace technology and took great pride in living a simple and honest life. Doug passionately lived this way until his final moments, never allowing age to slow him down.
Doug is survived by his children: Pam Albright, Kim Albright Kisslo, and Doug Albright, Jr.; his four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Robert Albright, Jr. and Priscilla Albright. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jeffrey Albright and Judith Albright Blouin.
A service will be held on June 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Chapel of the Pines in Placerville. All who knew him are welcome to attend. A celebration of his life will take place next month. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local ranching, veteran, or land stewardship organization in Doug’s honor.
