

August 12, 2017 - February 17, 2017, passed away peacefully in Placerville, CA, where she has lived for the last 3 1/2 years. Chris was born in Bellingham, WA, and lived in Missoula, MT, and Granite Falls, WA, before eventually moving to Klamath Falls, OR, in 1952.
Chris met Forrest Hawley while attending Western Washington College of Education in Bellingham, WA, where they both received their degrees. They married and had three daughters, Elizabeth (Betty), Kristina, and Judy. Chris taught primary grades in the Klamath City School System for 27 years and retired, after serving as principal at Lucille O'Neil, in 1980. She was active in several service organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma, Friends of the Library, Retired Educators, and Faculty Wives Club. She was also clerk and member of the Congregational Church UCC and an active volunteer throughout the community.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest, her daughter, Betty McClelland, her grandson, Michael Neubert, and her great-grandson, Lawrence McClelland. She is survived by her daughters, Kristina Fowler (Rich) and Judy Faragasso (Frank), her grandchildren, Robert and Karin McClelland, Malinda Swick (Pat), and Josilyn Faragasso, as well as her seven great-grandchildren.
Chris was always a true and faithful friend, neighbor, and citizen of the world, a mentor and example to her family and all who knew her. She was kind and wise and supportive and humble and, always, with a sense of humor. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, Placerville, CA.
