

Born on December 12,1938, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Stanley Morrison Lloyd and Thelma Madeline (Miller) Lloyd, Ethel moved as a your girl with her family to Camino, California, where her father helped open Michigan-Cal Lumber Company. She graduated from El Dorado High School in Placerville in 1956.
Through her father's work at Michigan-Cal, Ethel met the love of her life, John Charles "Jay" Wunschel. They were married on July 21, 1956, and together built a life centered on family, hard work, and love. Ethel spent the remainder of her life in El Dorado County, where she established deep roots in the community she loved.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Wunschel; her four sisters, Delsie, Elsie, Thelma, and Helen; an her grandson, John Charles "JC" Wunschel.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Baker and spouse Carry Baker; her son, Jon Wunschel; her cherished former daughter -in-law, JoLynda (Wunschel) Mills; her grandchildren, Kristi Setzer, Sean Baker, and Jason Wunschel and spouse Nick Shireman; three great grandchildren: one great-great grandchild; and many extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 10:00am at WestWood Hills Memorial Park, 2720 Cold Springs Road, Placerville, California. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Placerville Gathering Place (Masonic Hall), 2820 Cold Springs Road. All who knew and loved Ethel are welcome to attend.
