Eugene Ray Sargent

August 1, 1958 – April 30, 2011

Eugene Ray (Sarge) Sargent passed away of natural causes in Placerville, CA on April 30, 2011, he will be laid to rest in his home town of Ione, CA. He is survived by his wife Cayce and children, Adam and Megan; he is the son of Joyce and the Late Lloyd Sargent; his sister Bernice Minton and brother-in-law John Minton, grandfather of Adam, Noah and Nathan and uncle to Jason, Terry and Paul. Also survived by his long time personal friend, Diane Shortlidge.

Gene was a dedicated employee of SMUD for 29 years. He worked his way up from lineman to inspector. He enjoyed his job very much. Gene enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren as often as possible. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. We loved your laugh and will miss you very much.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, June 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville. Following the service, friends are invited to High Hill Ranch, 2901 High Hill Road

Placerville to further celebrate Gene’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s name may be made to a favorite charity.
