

Hugh Wallace Ward, known to family and friends as Wally, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, shortly after a celebration of his 100th birthday. Wally was born February 22, 1917, in Portland, OR. During World War II and the Korean War, he was a pilot in the Air Force and served his country until his retirement to California in 1964. Wally was a man of many passions and interests. He loved fishing, hunting, traveling, playing bridge, dancing (especially square dancing) and playing standards on the banjo. A social man, Wally had many friends and was blessed with two very happy marriages.
Wally was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Long, who died in 1985 and by his second wife Loudeen Davidson in 2011. He is survived by his three children, Gary (Debbi) Ward, Susanne Ward, and Sandra (Jon) Humphrey, as well as seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by two stepsons, Allen and Dan Murdaugh, and their families.
Friends are invited to gather with the family to share memories at Wally’s home on Tuesday evening, April 18th, from 6-8 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines, Placerville, CA.
