Ione Lucille Barnes

Ione was born on August 17, 1915 in Buena Vista County, Iowa, on the family farm. She was the second of four daughters born to Earl John & Alta Mae Waters.

After high school Mom was a nanny until she met a young baker by the name of Glenn Barnes. Mom has always said, it was love at first sight.

Three daughters and one son were born to this union, Marlys, Glenda, Patty and Donald.

In 1957 Glenn and Ione purchased the Quality Bakery in Concord, California. After 20 wonderful years of great memories in the bakery business it was time to retire. From Concord they ended up in Pollock Pines, Ca.

After the passing of her beloved Glenn in 2001, Mom stayed in her home until mid-2005, than she moved to Washington to live near her son, Don and his wife, Sandie in Silverdale, Washington. In February of 2009, Ione moved to Bridgeview Estates, to be near her daughter Patty and son in law Mike Russell.

Mom leaves behind three daughters, Marlys (Ken) Snasel of Chester, California. Glenda (Jim) Hartman of Lincoln, California. Patty (Mike) Russell of Jerome, Idaho; and son, Don (Sandie) Barnes of Silverdale, Washington. 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved Glenn, parents Earl and Alta Waters, and her three sisters Betty Fenski, Gladys Almlie and Ilene Bates, also several aunts and uncles and many friends.

The family extends the most sincere appreciation to the staff at Bridge View Estates, and in Mom’s last few days, the awesome Hospice Visions team.

Funeral will be held at the Chapel of the Pines, in Placerville, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville, CA on Wednesday, January 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday Evening, Jan. 7th from 6 to 8 pm at the Funeral Home.

Interment following service at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, Placerville, California
