Jackson attended Rio Vista High School and was senior class president graduating in 1942. He attended the University of the Pacific for a short period prior to joining the US Navy. His service was stateside during WWII as a gunnery instructor. Once out of the service he began a career with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) in Rio Vista, Ca. as a lineman and then a trouble man in 1946. In 1959 he moved to Placerville, Ca. and took a position as the District Marketing Representative with P.G. & E. Jackson would spend the rest of his like in Placerville. Jackson married his high school sweetheart Mary Jane Asher in 1963. Jackson and Mary Jane raised 5 children. Jackson retired from P.G. & E. in 1986 after 40 years of employment. During his lifetime Jackson would belong to and participate in many service and social clubs such as; Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 26 (50 years), Scottish Rite Bodies of Sacramento, Ben Ali Shriners Temple (Past Master), Order of Eastern Star Suisun Chapter, Royal Arch Masons of Ca. Suisun Chapter 43, Kiwanis Club of Placerville (Past President & Lieutenant Governor Ca.-Nev.-HI), Cold Springs Golf & Country Club (Past President), Hangtown Little League, Two Terms Placerville City Council (Mayor 1990-1992). Chairman City of Placerville Planning Commission, Representative on Sacramento Regional Area Planning Commission, OEO Council for El dorado County, Civil Defense Counsel El Dorado County.
He was charming, charismatic, good natured and had a sense of flair. He was loved by many but known by most all that would roam the streets of Placerville during the 1970’s and 1980’s. He was known for his very bright, colorful and outrageous attire. It was said that people who worked downtown Placerville couldn’t wait to see what he would be wearing to work each day. He knew and interacted with a lot of people and he usually made a everlasting impression on them. We will miss him dearly. He is survived by his just as impressive wife Mary Jane Bailey. Children; Dan Musick, Nancy Musick, Gay Musick. James Bailey, Chris Bailey. Grandchildren Lindsay (Olsen) Dawson, Ryan Olsen, Melanie (Musick) Zumwalt, Katie (Musick) Morton, Amanda (Nevel) Foster, Krista Altermatt, Jason Musick and 7 Great Grandsons and 2 Great Granddaughters. Services will be held at 1pm Saturday July 30 at Chapel of the Pines 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville Ca. Remembrances can be posted at www.chapelofthepinesfunerals.com.
