John David Sethre

John Sethre passed away August 4, just shy of his 90th birthday, after a brief battle with lung and bone cancer. He married Evelyn Koleada on Feb. 14, 1956, Valentines’ day, in Montebello, Ca. “Evie” predeceased him in 2007. John’s very full life began in Kelso, Washington where he was fifth child born to Henry and Hazel Sethre. He graduated from Kelso High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 serving until 1946 in WWII and was recalled to serve in Korea in 1950-1951. John joined the Montebello Police Department in 1952, and then in 1956 he decided to become a CHP Motorcycle officer moving to Placerville in 1965. After leaving the CHP, John began working for Kanowsky Manufacturing Co as a V.P. and chief pilot. Finally, John was owner operator of a logging truck until he retired. As hobbies, he enjoyed flying and hunted each year, including last year at age 89, with his nephew Gary McCarty.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11 am. at Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville, CA. followed by a reception lunch. Online condolences may be posted at chapelofthepinesfunerals.com
