

John Allen Hutto was born in Gotebo, Oklahoma on March 18, 1918 to George and Rachel Hutto. John passed away at home surrounded by loving family on May 13, 2012 at the age of 94. Lois Ashley Hutto, his wife of 70 years, preceded John in death.
Lois Ashley was born in Butler, Oklahoma on March 21, 1920 to Sam and Lenora Belle Ashley. Lois, the last to survive her eight siblings, passed away at home on September 23, 2011 at the age of 91.
John and Lois met in 1939 while attending college at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Upon graduation, John was awarded a Bachelors Degree in piano performance and earned a teaching certificate. John began teaching school, and John and Lois were married in 1941. Soon WWII interrupted life which prompted John to enlist in the Army Air Corps to pursue his love of flying. John flew 68 missions in Italy as a B-25 pilot. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his valor.
After the war, John and Lois settled in the San Francisco Bay Area where John became a music teacher in Oakland. Later he received a Masters Degree in Music Education from Mills College and earned an administrative credential. John was an educator in Oakland schools for 32 years.
Together John and Lois raised their four children in the East Bay area. The Huttos were known for their involvement in church music. John served as a choir director, pianist and organist in several churches. Lois was known for her beautiful soprano voice, wonderful wit and humor.
Retirement found John and Lois moving to the Placerville area where they continued to share their musical talents in the community at schools, churches, and convalescent homes. They were also active in Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Hutto’s are survived by their four children, John Hutto Jr. of Somerset; Jeanne Sutton of Sacramento; George Hutto of Yoncalla, Oregon; and Janice Porter of Sandpoint, Idaho. Sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grand children will miss John and Lois.
On May 19th, at 1:00 PM, graveside services with military colors will be held at
Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
A Memorial Service for John is to be held at Pioneer Bible Church, PO Box 36,
6851 Mt. Aukum Rd., Somerset, CA 95684 on May 20th at 2:00 PM.
