Kenneth M. Gerhart, 98, passed away June 7, 2019 at his home in Placerville, CA. He was born on October 5, 1920 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts to Ralph and Lillian Gerhart. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lois Gerhart, and his 3 siblings Vivian (Bim) Sorrelle, Warren (Buck) Gerhart and Donald Gerhart. He is survived by children Jann Knoblauch
and her husband Charles and John S. Gerhart and his wife Linda, 4 grandchildren (Jason, Rebecca, David and Kenny) and 1 great-grandchild, Timmy.
Kenneth spent his youth in Quakertown, PA where he graduated from Quakertown High School with the Class of 1938 as President of his class. He went on to serve his class faithfully organizing class reunions through their 75th reunion. He graduated college in 1942 with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin and was Vice President of the Theta Chi fraternity. Kenneth proudly served his country in the US Army from 1942-1946 and was Captain in the 655th Ordnance Ammunition Co. in the European theatre. He attended one of the sessions of the War Crime Trials in Nuremberg, Germany.
Kenneth spent many years working in farming in PA and then working in the lumber business in PA, NJ, AZ and NV before finally settling down in Placerville, CA. Graveside services with military honors will take place at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 1:30 pm.
