Beloved husband, avid skier, and award-winning medical sales representative, Larry Endacott, USNR, Retired, passed away at home on May 9, 2025, after illness.
Larry was born to Captain Jack A. Endacott, USN, and wife Maxine (McCall) Endacott at NAS North Island, San Diego. Larry grew up surrounded by a proud Navy family, sandwiched between older brother Steve and younger sister Cindy. His childhood was marked by the constant relocations of military life, regularly camping across country between bases, and attending 10 different schools by twelfth grade. Despite the frequent moves, Larry achieved the rank of BSA Eagle Scout and excelled in sports, participating in cross-country, wrestling, and crew.
In 1973, Larry was accepted into the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, graduating with the Class of 1977. Upon commissioning, Larry became a Naval Flight Officer and was deployed to the Western Pacific with Patrol Squadron Nineteen (VP-19) flying in P-3 Orion aircraft.
From the sea, Larry transitioned to the shore, assigned to Navy Recruiting District EIGHT, specializing in recruiting future Navy Nuclear Power Officers. Larry connected with the Sacramento area and thrived on inspiring and mentoring young talent. He was the Navy's top Nuclear Power recruiter for three consecutive years. A Navy Achievement and two Navy Meritorious Service Medals were awarded by the Chief of Naval Personnel in recognition ceremonies in Washington, DC.
As his 22 years of service ended, Larry transitioned to the Naval Reserves and deployed multiple times to CINCPACFLT in Pearl Harbor, supporting major theater exercises. Larry retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1997.
For 39 years, he worked in the private sector, capitalizing on his ability to connect with people. He spent 20 years as a pharmaceutical representative for Pfizer, working to launch heart, lung, vascular, and metal health medications that helped revolutionize health care. For the last 15 years, he proudly represented VITAS Healthcare, introducing hospice care to doctors, hospitals, and smaller care facilities at a time when hospice was largely unknown in the central state.
Larry's home office displays 19 awards from Pfizer, including the singular Eagle Award, and his elevation to a Master. With VITAS, Larry earned 6 Leadership Council Awards, the first he earned in his first year with the company. Larry stood out for his ability to build lasting, genuine relationships with medical professionals, co-workers, and everyone he met along the way.
Larry loved the history and natural beauty of California's Crystal Range in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, east of Sacramento, choosing to make El Dorado County his home. During the summer, Larry could be found hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail or teaching his friends and co-worker's children how to water ski. His snow ski runs varied from Mammoth Mountain to Sierra-at-Tahoe to Heavenly to Northstar to Squaw and Sugar Bowl.
Larry is survived by his wife of 21 years, Donna (Hill) Endacott; his stepdaughter, Sergeant First Class Heather Wheale, US Army; his brother, CDR Steven Endacott, USN (Ret); his sister, Cynthia Endacott Kent; former wife Nancy (Svihla) Endacott, and many extended family members, shipmates, colleagues, and friends.
A memorial service is planned at the Foothills Church, 2380 Merrychase Drive, Cameron Park, CA 95682, at 1:00 pm on Monday, 19 May. An interment service will be scheduled at the United States Naval Academy Columbarium.
