Margaret (Marge) Stoffer passed away at age 91 in El Dorado Hills, a resident of Cameron Park, California. She was born in Union County, Iowa on August 4, 1926. After graduating from Creston High School, she entered a three-year nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa for the Cadet Nursing Corp, graduating in 1947. She then moved to Glendale, California in 1948 where she met and married Carl O. Stoffer of Rexford, Kansas, her husband of 47 years. That same year she began working at Glendale Memorial Hospital starting in Labor & Delivery and retiring as a supervisor in 1980.
Margaret and Carl moved to Camino, California in October 1980. In 1984 she began volunteering with the Marshall Hospital Auxiliary and served until 2011 when ill health forced her to again retire. She attended Discovery Hills Evangelical Free Church for many years. Margaret greatly enjoyed her hobbies, doing hours of counted cross stitch, knitting and crocheting. Special enjoyment for Margaret was playing board games and doing puzzles with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as winning bingo games.
Preceding her in death was her husband Carl in June 1995, and in later years her brothers Harry Hartley, Roy Hartley and Glenn Hartley; sisters Mildred McLaughlin and Maxine Wickert; and great-grandson Ezekiel Timothy Hester.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Karen (Edward) Hester of Rescue, California, son Robert (Lorrie) Stoffer of New Castle, Pennsylvania; former daughter-in-law and friend Judy Stoffer of Mason, Ohio; three grandchildren, Sienna D. Garrett, Trevor Drew Hester and Brent M. Stoffer; and five great-grandchildren, Josiah J. Garrett, Trevor Michael “Mac” Hester, Micah C. Garrett, Laney A. Stoffer and Margaret R. Hester.
A Celebration of Life will be held in The Chapel at Foothills Church, 2380 Merrychase Drive, Cameron Park, California on Saturday August 4, 2018 at 11:00 am. Margaret was laid to rest on June 12, 2018 at Westwood Hills Memorial Park next to her husband Carl and her sister Mildred and her husband Don McLaughlin.
