January 10, 1943 - November 5, 2016
Patti passed at home with her husband John in the early morning of Nov. 5th, pain free, comfortable and looking at peace.
She is survived by her husband John whom lives in Camino, CA. Daughter Tina and Husband Jeff whom live in Vacaville, CA, Son Christopher and wife Janet whom live in Oroville, CA and Daughter Heather and Husband Matt whom live in El Dorado, CA.
In addition to the Children, Patti & John have five Grand Children and seven Great Grand Children. She is survived by Aunt Marie Valerio in Coos Bay, OR.
Patti was born in Mt. Vernon, New York and the family moved to Vacaville, CA in 1957. Graduated from Vacaville High in 1960. She worked in San Francisco for a period of time until moving to Hawaii as her father was in the Navy. After returning from Hawaii the family settled in Fairfield, CA. In 1974 she met John when their family moved into another house in Fairfield. They were married on April 12, 1975. They lived there while John drove truck. During that time Christopher and Heather were born. In 1980 Patti and family moved to Placerville, CA, where they went into the Auto Mechanic business. In 1985 John went to work for the Forest Service which meant they moved to Georgetown, CA. They lived there until the kids graduated from school. Patti got a job working for the Forest Service Nursery in Placerville, and their final move, this time to Camino, CA.
While living in the Foothills once the kids were on their own, Patti went to work (for money this time). She worked at the Georgetown Hotel in Georgetown, then the Forest Service and Abel’s Apple Acres (where she was known as the fudge lady) in Placerville. In 2003 John retired and that meant Patti would retire also. Patti loved working in her garden and yard, her favorite flower being carnations, and everywhere they lived she had the best yard on the block. When it came to the house Mr. Kleen could not keep up with her. Her most important task was taking care of her family, which she loved more than anything else and they never went without anything.
When Patti wasn’t taking care of the family she liked needle point, collecting Angels, collecting music boxes, reading, cooking, butterflies, watching football, Indy and especially NASCAR. Do not bother her when they were on TV. Patti loved doing for others and if anyone needed anything, anytime, Patti was the first be there. She and John always enjoyed decorating for “all” the holidays, Christmas being the most important. Patti would remove all pictures and knick knacks from the rooms and transform each room into to what looked like Santa’s house. Inside, the house was highlighted with the approx. 1000 Santa Clauses they had collected for 41 years. While Patti was doing the house, John always transformed the outside with so many decorations that the neighbors would complain about the lights and the steady stream of cars stopping to enjoying what they had put out. When families came down the driveway, Patti and John would invite them inside to see the house, the adults were more impressed than the children. They felt with all the attention and gratitude from the visitors that they had DONE GOOD. Giving people such joy is what it is all about. Patti always told her kids that the best kid was getting all the decorations.
Patti and Johns other passion was their classic cars. Most of the time, during the summer, they attended a car show, cruise in or parade just about every weekend. Patti always said her 1957 Chevrolet Belair was the best and most loved before the 1931 Model A Sedan or John’s 1931 Model A Pickup.
Pastor Milton Steck is coming from Vacaville, CA to preside over the Celebration for Patti. Pastor Stect married Patti and John in Vacaville in 1975, and came to Camino, CA to preside over their Renewal of their Vows in April of 2010. Patti and John are so grateful for Pastor following them to start the next chapter of their lives.
