Bob was one of eight children born in Ashland, Oregon on October 29, 1925 to Ben and Anna Delsman. The family moved to Orland and worked on their farm for many years before settling in Vallejo, CA. After schooling, Bob proudly entered the Army and served in the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the war.
In 1957, he married his dearly loved wife Goldie and moved to Pollock Pines. He worked in the construction of the dams and power houses above Riverton. In 1970 he joined SMUD as the civil supervisor for the upper American River Project. He enjoyed travelling and working throughout the many beautiful lakes and forest areas in the Sierras.
Bob and Goldie were happily married for 61 years. A devoted family man, he was the father of three children, Robert Jr., Lezlie and Lisa, who predeceased her father. He was the proud grandfather of Anna, Kate, Ryan, Slate, Wolfgang and Robert III, who predeceased him. Bob will be happily remembered by his many nieces and nephews who had many happy tales of their ‘Uncle Bob.’
After retirement Bob and Goldie traveled around the world for many years, and enjoyed reliving their happy experiences with family and friends.
