Roy Downley Roddis, Jr.

Dec. 30, 1921 - June 20,2016

The world is a little less bright because Roy Roddis passed away Monday, June 20, 2016. He was a shining light to his large extended family, especially his 4 daughters, Kathy Pennington (Bill), Linda Walters (Tom), Sue Baldwin (Mike) and Cynthia Hayes (Mark). He has 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was adored by all!!

Roy was married in.1944 to the love of his life, Marie Roddis, who went to meet our Lord in 2006. As a Marine, he participated in the invasion of lwo Jima, the raising of the flag on Mount Suribachi and the occupation of Japan in 1945. Roy was a humble gentle man with many friends. As a member of First Lutheran Church, Placerville, he was well known for his love and kindness to all.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 25 at 11:00 at the Chapel of the Pines, 2855 Cold Springs Rd, Placerville, CA. Please feel free to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Honor Flight Bay area who send hundreds of veterans nationwide, free of charge, to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials and monuments.
