Samuel Stopher

Placerville’s local plumber and the owner of Quality Plumbing. Sam started his business in the 50’s where he installed most of the laundromat’s from San Diego to Santa Barbara, “from the ocean to the desert”. Quality Plumbing will now continue under the ownership of Sam’s best friend Greg Hayes whom Sam continued to work with until shortly before his death. Sam also has been a bar owner and has trained young men in plumbing for the forest service in Sly Park. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter and served in the Coast Guard during WWII.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Stopher. He is survived by six daughters, Wendy Galla of East Rancho Dominguez, CA, Gail Raes of Mukilteo, WA, Teresa Fissel of Pollock Pines, CA, Lisa Gustavson of Reno, NV, Dawn Towne of Concord, CA and Jeanne Dore of Grizzly Flats, CA, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren with one on the way, and two great great grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place, Wednesday 12/19/2012 at 1:00pm, Placerville Union Cemetery, Bee Street, Placerville, CA. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines and online condolences may be posted at

We were saddened to read of Sam's passing on Dec 10th. He and Greg have taken care of our plumbing needs since 1973. We always enjoyed his conversation and we knew him to be a kind and gentle man. We will miss him.
