October 31, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Aileen “Baba” Apil, who passed away on October 31, 2026, at the age of 63.
Aileen was a loving sister, devoted family member, cherished aunt, and dear friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to the lives of so many. Known affectionately as “Baba” to her nieces and nephews and “Manang” to all, she held a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Aileen was loving, loyal, and funny, with a remarkable mind that seemed to know something about everything. Often our very own walking encyclopedia, she was admired for her intelligence, wisdom, and the wealth of knowledge she so generously shared. Her humor, wit, and unique personality made her unforgettable, and her ability to bring laughter into everyday moments was one of the many gifts she gave to those around her.
Above all, Aileen treasured her family and the connections that bound them together. She was the heart of the Apil-Lopez family, dearly loved by relatives across New York, North Carolina, and California. No matter the distance, she made sure that family ties remained strong and that the love between everyone never faded. She was the glue that held us all together, the one who kept us connected, reminded us of our shared bonds, and made sure that family always came first. Her love extended beyond miles and generations, creating a bond that will continue to unite us even in her absence. The connection she nurtured so lovingly is part of the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Aileen was more than a sister, aunt, or family member; she was someone who brought people together, created lasting memories, and made family feel like home. Her love was steadfast, her loyalty unwavering, and her presence a constant source of comfort and connection.
Aileen leaves behind her beloved mother, Lia; her sisters, Lisa and Leah; her brother, Nino; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Erick, Edwin, Lauren and Melissa; chosen sisters, Grace and Beth and her cherished nieces and nephews, Sophie, Cole, Maddie, Nila, John, Daniel, Alexa, Alana, Braxton, Braedan, Celine, Holden, Taylor, and Ava, who will forever hold their beloved Baba close to their hearts.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are deeply grateful for the years we shared with Aileen, for the laughter she brought into our lives, for the wisdom she imparted, and for the countless ways she showed her love. The memories we made with her will remain treasured gifts, carried with us through the years.
Aileen’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved her. Yet, the love she gave, the laughter she inspired, and the family bonds she worked so hard to preserve will never fade. Though she is no longer with us, the connection she fostered will live on in every family gathering, every shared story, and every moment we come together as one.
She will forever be our Baba, our Manang, our beloved sister, and the heart that kept our family together.
You will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and forever remembered. May you rest in eternal peace.
