Blanca Uzcategui, a remarkable woman who passed away on July 2nd 2025 in Syosset, New York, left behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience. Born is Riobamba, Ecuador, she married the love of her life, Jose Uzcategui, at the young age of 18. Together, in October 1956, they moved to New York City and began to build a new life.
Blanca’s life took an exciting turn when she pursued a successful career as a graphic artist. Beyond her professional achievements, Blanca was a devoted mother to three wonderful children: Fanny, Robert, and Mary.
Blanca’s family was also blessed with six grandchildren: Fay, Mercedes, Joseph, Rachel, Justin, and Elliott. They were all close to Blanca and cherished her love and support.
Blanca was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending mass every Sunday. She had an incredible green thumb and loved spending hours in her garden. Throughout her life Blanca was an avid traveler, embarking on journeys with her loving husband and exploring much of the world. She frequently shared stories from these trips, eager to impart her knowledge of the world and the valuable lessons she had learned along the way.
She had a great love of games and would play mahjong with her friends, and rummikub with her family. It’s these memories, lessons, and stories that will be the legacy Blanca leaves behind with her family and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, located at 655 Old Country Road, Plainview, NY 11803, on July 6, 2025. The service will take place from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
