Jack was survived by his wife of 66 years, Carmela (Milly), son Leonard (Jo-Ann), daughter Maria (Andre), his beloved grandchildren, Alyssa, Daniel and Jake, his brother Ben and many treasured nieces and nephews.
Jack was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Between 1954 and 1956, he served in the US Army and thereafter the US Army Reserves. Afterwards, he attended Pratt Institute to study Art. In 1958, he married Carmela and subsequently achieved the American dream and bought a house and they raised their two children, Len and Maria, in Old Bethpage, NY. Jack worked for the US Postal Service as an Illustrator and then as a Building Planner until his retirement. Jack had many hobbies throughout his life. He was a very talented artist who enjoyed oil painting and exhibited his collection of paintings at public libraries across Long Island. Many of his works adorn the walls of friends’ and family homes as he happily created masterpieces for them – paintings of their beloved pets, houses, boats and landscapes. Jack also loved working with his hands, whether it was tinkering with the desk/workspace he built using pieces of old furniture or making improvements on his home or boat. For many years he was an active member of the Freeport Yacht Club, the Knights of Columbus and local senior clubs. Later in life he enjoyed reading, watching movies and doing jigsaw puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/)
