My heart has been heavy since I heard Maureen had entered the nearer presence of God. She and I met in 1986 when she played the Countess Elsa Schrader and I played Maria in The Sound of Music. Her voice thrilled all of us, so clear, so loving. We kept in touch over the decades, and she became my voice teacher in the last year and a half. She believed in me after all these years. We spoke of her valiant fight and we shared many fears and joys. I am not able to attend her funeral due to a fight of my own, but I stopped today to just remember her and to pray for her journey to the brilliant place and reunion that await her. I know I will see her again......

I have had the pleasure of knowing Maureen for twenty years. She was the winner in the Pageant for Senior America. Over time I was not only impressed with her beautiful voice and her charismatic personality, but I developed a friendship that helped me share her life. She was the ultimate lady. She was kind and generous. She was so supportive of other performers and she helped fill our lives with beautiful music. May she sing with the angels.

I will always remember her beautiful smile, amazing voice, and her love of cats. I used to see Maureen around Baldwin when I went to run errands with my Mom. As did my Mom and Dad in years past. A familiar lovely face. It has been a while. I was so sad to hear this news.
May she rest in eternal peace. Prayers and love to Laura, Alicia and family.
Love, Teri

I met Maureen in the early 70's at Christ First Presbyterian Church in Hempstead were I was a member of the choir. She was a very good friend of the Choir Director Don Marsden. Since then Maureen has been a part of my life with her singing, directing and playing the organ. Then in the late 90's our Choir Music Director became the Music Director and Organist at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in RVC. I followed him there and I was again with Maureen.
In 2009 Maureen became the Music Director and accompanists for the Oceanside Chorale were I was a member. It was a pleasure to have her as our Music director. She really gave us courage to sing as a choir should. She made every concert special and worked us to perfection. Her talents that she shared with us will always remain with us.
I will always remember you being part of my life and all that you taught me about singing and music. God bless you, I will miss you &. May you "Rest in peace?"

Maureen was a beautiful and caring person that knew how to make everyone feel important. I feel very fortunate for knowing her the years that I was a member of the Oceanside Chorale and as my voice teacher. Her love of music and her amazing voice touched so many and brought such beauty into this world. Her positive and spiritual energy never ceased to amaze me-no matter how difficult things might have been for Maureen-she never gave up and refused to let negativity bring her down! Although we have lost a very special person, we have a voice above that soars and watches over us! Please take comfort in knowing that she will always be remembered and loved.
