Dearest Ruth, Tom, Patrice, Billy, Jimmy, Diane(and all of your families), I was so deeply touched at today's funeral for a man that my family very much admired from the first day we moved out to Plainview. Dad(along with your mother) was a wonderful, helpful, and very kind neighbor to my parents and my brother and I in good times and in bad. A steady, strong, and very humble presence. Jimmy's eulogy today was a powerful testimony and an outstanding tribute. You really did him justice, Jimmy. I am sure all of the family is deeply grateful for your words, your emotions, and your strength which very much mirrors the man who cared for all of you and inspired(along with your beautiful mother) outstanding values. At a time when the world is very unsteady and very confused, it was such a consolation to witness in each and every one of you, the fruit of his love and his labors. Each of you,as well as the grandchildren, are the great legacy he leaves in the world to continue his example and his strength. The love that your parents had for one another is a beacon of light to a world that needs to know how it's done. My heart goes out to all of you, most particularly mom. I love her. I will always love her. I have every confidence Mike will continue to carry each and every one of you through this life and walk silently by your side every hour of every day. Above all,he will "carry mom" through the remainder of her days and embrace her again "soon". As St Paul says "Love never ends".
