Barbara Ruth Smart DeWoody passed away in the early hours of May 29, 2023. She was born August 3rd, 1931 to Balis Larkin and Nina Mae Elliott Smart. She married Earl Lee DeWoody August 15th, 1949. They lived and worked side by side for 63 wonderful years.
Bobby and Earl owned Plano Air Conditioning from the 1960’s to mid 1990’s. They grew it to one of the largest air conditioning companies of their time, receiving several awards and earned trips all over the world. They invited their friends to travel with them.
After Earl passed in April of 2013, Bobby lived alone and enjoyed phone calls and visits from neighborhood friends and her family. She loved to read but would gladly stop to play a word jumble or play cards with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and card games especially when she won! She, also, enjoyed cooking and doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren.
Bobby is survived by her son and daughter in law, Steve and Edie; her granddaughter and fiancé, Jennifer Tutt and Jeff Hughes; granddaughter and husband, Emily and Victor Castro; great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Landry Tutt; great-grandsons Victor and Griffin Castro; and Austin and Colton Hughes; and many nieces and nephews. Bobby was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend to many. She will be dearly missed as she was adored by all who knew her. Bobby was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ricky; brother, Larry; and her dear husband, Earl.
Serving as pallbearers are Victor Castro, Jeff Hughes, Austin Hughes, Colton Hughes, Stewart Smart and Kyle Archer.
