Benita Gravelly Terry Jones was born on August 21, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Mildred and Alvin LeRoy Terry Sr. She passed away on September 7, 2021 in Plano, Texas. Benita attended Little Rock Public Schools during the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement in Arkansas. She was able to travel abroad during her senior year of high school with UP With PEOPLE. After adventures through Europe and Africa, she returned home to attend University of Arkansas for both undergrad and law degrees. As an attorney, her journey took her from the Arkansas Office on Aging to Legal Council for SkyChefs in Dallas to Department of Labor - Civil Rights Division in Washington D.C. Benita retired but remained active in the law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bernard Jones, both parents and a sister, Adell Norwood. She leaves a brother, Alvin Terry Jr. of Little Rock; and a sister, Mildred Hill of Dallas, Tx; plus a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
