Bernita Mae Westenburg

Bernita was born on December 5, 1935 in Coin, Iowa. Bernita met the love of her life, Leslie D. Westenburg, while growing up in Coin, Iowa.

They married on June 13, 1954. Les and Bernita raised 3 children: Leslie Jr. (wife Lene Westenburg), Gary, and Karen (fiance Mark Spuhler).

Bernita was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking. She and her husband, Les, were members of a camping club for many years and enjoyed traveling to Bluegrass shows and camping with friends.

Bernita has 8 grandsons: Ryan Westenburg, Sam Westenburg, ( fiance Aleksandra Bakich), Jesse Henderson (wife Ryane Henderson) , Jordan Henderson (wife Taylor Henderson) , Johnathan Henderson, Joseph Henderson, Jason Henderson, and Joshua Henderson. She loved taking them to the park to feed the ducks and making them homemade pepperoni pizza, angel food cake with sprinkles, Velveeta macaroni and cheese, and of course, there was always a freezer full of Blue Bell ice cream. The

grandsons have many wonderful memories of playing Cootie and Sorry with their Memaw.

Bernita also has 7 great grandchildren: Sadie, Eli, Luke, Isaiah, Autumn, Aiden, and Wade.

She was a very humble woman who always put the needs of others before herself. She loved her husband, Les; they had a beautiful marriage. She was a gentle spirit.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Bernita's Life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas 75074.

Following the Memorial Service, a reception will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home.

After the reception, inurnment will be held at the Plano Mutual Cemetery.
