A graveside service will be held in her memory at the Plano Municipal Cemetery on Friday, April 28 at 2:00PM with a celebration of life immediately following at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas.
Carole was born in Irving, Texas to Alan Palmes Seale and Mae Lorene Seale of Dallas, Texas on April 29, 1940. She was the oldest of two children and grew up in Dallas with her younger brother Charles Alan Seale.
Carole married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Garland Holloway (always Tommy to her) on October 15, 1960, and moved to Plano, Texas shortly thereafter. Almost immediately, she began volunteering in the church nursery caring for children during Sunday morning services. This was the beginning of her lifelong passion for children.
Carole and Tommy had two children together: a son, Scott Thomas Holloway, born November 10, 1970, and a daughter Lori Beth Holloway born March 9, 1972. When her children were old enough to go to elementary school, Carole began volunteering in the school library at Meadows Elementary and as an assistant troop leader for Lori’s Girl Scout Troop.
In 1982, Carole returned to the work force as a preschool teacher starting as an assistant working with 3-year-olds at the First Baptist Church Child Development Center in Plano. For the next 26 years, children would know her as Mrs. Carole, the nice lady with the big smile that loved them all very much. She would greet them with a smile and a hug every day, read them stories using puppets, props, and, occasionally, costumes. She retired as Assistant Director in August 2008.
Carole’s greatest passions in life were children, gardening, and fishing. She loved all children, but none more than her five grandchildren. No matter how long her day, or how tired she was at the end of it, she wanted her grandchildren close as often as possible.
After Tommy’s death in January 2009, Carole’s health started to deteriorate as she began to struggle with vascular issues and, ultimately, dementia. Carole’s health issues robbed her of her memories and personality, but it did not touch her soul. She may have been unclear on names, but she always recognized her family as people she loved. Her biggest smiles were always reserved for her grandchildren.
On April 14, 2023, Carole Holloway passed away peacefully in hospice care. Her family will miss her dearly, but they take great comfort in knowing that she is finally free and reunited with her dear husband.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Alan and Lorene Seale and her loving husband Tommy.
She is survived by:
• Her son and daughter-in-law Scott & Laura Holloway of Plano, Texas
• Her son-in-law and daughter Byron Witty and Lori Holloway-Witty of Plano, Texas.
• Her five grandchildren Thomas Witty, Caroline Witty, Alexis Holloway, Allison (Gracie) Witty and Brett Holloway.
• Her brother & sister-in-law Charles and Sandy Seale of Arlington, Texas and her nieces Shelley Seale, Amy Norwood, and Katie Blake and their families.
• The hundreds of children who knew her as Mrs. Carole
In lieu of flowers, Carole’s family requests that you consider a donation to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County in her memory. She loved flowers, but she loved children more.
