Charles Davidson Jr. went home to be with his heavenly savior on May 12th, 2021 in Plano, TX. Dave grew up in Sharyland, and participated in 4H, football, and was named Mr. SHS during his senior year. After graduating from Sharyland High School he joined the US Airforce during the Vietnam War and proudly served his country overseas. While in Germany, his passion for travel began; he loved to travel Europe and was thrilled to use his “$100-dollar tent” as often as possible. Upon returning to the Valley, Dave worked as a nurseryman for most of his career. The position that he was most well-known for by his family was that of “grandpa” or “pa”. His passion for his family was evident, even up to his very last days. He spent most days writing heart-felt comments on family and friends posts, facetiming with family, or playing with his grandkids while at the dinner table. He always wanted to make sure that those around him knew how special they were to him. He had a way with words and was able to express to those around him how special each person was to him.
He is survived by his four daughters, Stacey (Jensen) Pray, Amber (Kenneth) Barnett, Amy Elizabeth Davidson, and Kelsey (Jon) Tilton. He is also survived by his sisters Charla (Frank) Kulcak, and Marianne Powell; brother Richard Davidson; former spouse Donna Wied, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death are his nephew Christopher Powell, brother-in-law Rick Powell, former spouse Elizabeth Davidson, and his parents, Charles and Mary Davidson.
A service honoring Dave will be held at First Baptist Church, 201 E. Samano, Edinburg, TX on Saturday May 22nd at 2pm. For those that are unable to attend the service, it will be broadcasted by the family on his Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church in his name.
