Chuck was born in Racine, Wisconsin, and remained in the state until he joined the military, serving in the Air Force from 1964-1968. He then served in the reserves until 1970. It was one of the highlights of his life as it gave him the opportunity to travel through Europe. He was stationed in Turkey as an Electronic Intercept Operations Specialist. He also served as a Scout Leader for the Transatlantic Boy Scouts, which left him with a lifelong love for the Boy Scout organization. While he was in service, he met his wife while she was traveling. Upon discharge, he went to Indiana to visit and eventually proposed to his Jo-Jo. They were married in 1968, and their daughter, Ann, was born in 1969.
Work opportunities brought him to Texas, where he remained the rest of his life. His favorite job in the world was being a husband, father, and grandfather. Chuck’s woodworking was a testament to his craftsmanship and a blessing that he shared with many friends. He also had a love for story writing, Bible study, and archery with his grandsons. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He remained steadfast in his Christian beliefs throughout his life. He held his faith close to his heart and had many friends from church. All will remember numerous prayers at the dinner table, as they were always hosting friends and family.
Chuck was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Joanne Unbehaun, his parents, Dwayne and Loretta Unbehaun, and his brother, Bill Unbehaun. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Noggle, son-in-law, Joseph Noggle, and grandsons, Andrew Noggle, Alexander Noggle, and Aaron Noggle (TX); and siblings Bev Riesberg (MN), Joseph Unbehaun (WI), Carl Unbehaun (MN), and Steve Unbehaun (WI).
