Claire was born October 19, 1939 in Schenectady New York to Hazen W Fleet and Clarabelle Van Loon. She is survived by her husband Bob; her son Eric of Plano, his wife Mary and their daughters Chesney and Alexandra; her son Brian, his wife Tamara and Children Callie and Davis; her son Mike and his wife Meredith.
Claire started college at the University of Maryland in 1957 but took a brief hiatus to support her husband and raise a family. She completed her BA in history and math receiving her degree from UT Dallas. She was fond of saying she was on the 25 year college plan. Claire was active in Plano political campaigns. She served on the Historical Preservation Society and the Friends of Plano Public Library. She was especially proud of her services as a volunteer for the Assistance Center of Plano for 27 years.
Always smiling, Claire never met a stranger. At 5 years old, she was given the nickname Happy, which re-emerged when she became a grandmother. She was adopted by many of her sons’ friends playing the role of counselor, friend, teacher, bed & breakfast and shoulder to cry on. They knew that her back porch was always open and you could bring your vice with you. For the last 18 years Claire has enjoyed keeping an eye on the books for Imaging Spectrum, the family business. Bob and Claire recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Arrangements under the direction of Ted Dickey Funeral Home, Plano, TX.
