He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 2016. He is survived by his mother Alicia Blancas, his father Ricardo (Linda) Montoya, and siblings Eva (Lazaro) Montalvo, Rick (LeEllen) Montoya, Jonathan Montoya, and Matthew Montoya. His faithful furry companion Shadow, a little white terrier that David loved, is being cared for by family.
David was known by his nickname "Jimmy" as a child; later in his childhood he preferred to be called by his official first name. He had a kind heart, giving spirit, and a sweet smile. He also had a down-to-earth way of looking at things and a wry, and sometimes twisted, sense of humor.
David experienced many personal struggles throughout his life, including the death of little brother Isaac in 1980, his wife's more recent passing, and health issues. But he persevered, with the help of family and close friends, for which he always expressed gratitude. He said he was happy and content.
He worked as an electronics technician for many years, and also proudly completed welding studies. Most recently he was employed by Hella Shrine, where he was happy to contribute his efforts to benefit Shriners Hospital for Children. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
He is already missed very much by so many, and will live on in the hearts of all he touched. Rest in Peace David
