

Douglas Emil Fischer, age 65, passed away on November 10, 2010 in Ruidoso, NM. He was born on December 25, 1944 in Dodge City, KS to Emil and Virginia Fischer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Fischer of Plano; children, Doug A. Fischer and wife Angie of Mesquite, Sandi Campbell of Plano and Eric Fischer and wife Alison of Coppell; grandchildren, Ashley Day of Prosper, Logan Fischer of Mesquite, Braden Fischer of Coppell; brother, Ron Fischer; and other loving family and friends. Doug was a graduate of Kinsley High School in Kinsley, KS. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. He loved the Dallas Stars, Texas Longhorns and college football. Doug enjoyed coaching his sons in soccer. He loved gardening and took pride in his yard. He was a man that loved nature, birds and animals. His love of animals inspired his granddaughter to become a veterinarian technician. His grandchildren meant the world to him and to them he was known as “Poppy”. Doug will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. A Vigil Service will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 7:30 pm at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Dr., Plano, TX 75075. Memorial Service will be held at the Church on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus Charities c/o St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Susan G. Komen or ASPCA.
