Douglas John Silva

Our beloved father, Douglas John Silva (known to friends and family as “Papa Doug"), passed on September 1, 2023, at 78 years old. He went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness.

He was born on December 18, 1944, in San Luis Obispo, California, and resided in Santa Maria, California, for most of his life. He was an alumnus of Santa Maria High School. Following high school, he proudly worked in different types of sales; whether he was selling cars, flowers, or propane, he never met a stranger.

For the last 11 years of his life, he lived with his children and grandchildren in Parker, Texas. He was a Christian man who loved spending time with his family and friends, always blessing them with his lighthearted humor and kind soul. After retirement, he enjoyed painting, gardening, and collecting stamps.

He is survived by his children Philip Ponto, Robert Ponto, Sarah Gonzales, and Kathryn Silva, and his four granddaughters Tracy Ponto, Annalisa, Aviana, and Arabella Gonzales.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Antoinette Silva, and his two brothers, Stanley and William Silva. Although we will miss Papa Doug, we take comfort in knowing he is in heaven with the rest of his family.

Services will be held in Santa Maria, California. Date to be determined at a later date.
