Elfriede Hohle Safady of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 91 years. Although our hearts are deeply saddened at her departure from this life, we are steadfast in our faith that she rests in her eternal home with our Lord and Savior.
Frieda, as our mother was affectionately known, was born on November 25, 1933, in Kleve, Germany, a historic town near the border of the Netherlands and the Rhine River. Her late parents, Albert and Hildegard Hohle and their family of seven children lived in various areas of Germany before, during, and after World War II.
Frieda immigrated to the US in 1957, and she met her late husband Hamad Safady in Killeen, Texas in 1959. Frieda was a faithful and loving wife, a devoted homemaker, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was outgoing, friendly, and kind-hearted, with a warm, embracing smile for everyone she met. Frieda loved animals and cared for several cats and dogs who happily found her home over the years. She loved to cook and bake; her favorite dish was peach cobbler, which she would bake with oatmeal sprinkled on top.
Frieda always remembered her family and loved ones in Germany, and she looked forward to sending them birthday, Christmas, Easter, and other special holiday cards and letters to stay in touch. In her youth, Frieda learned to dance ballet, and it was one of her lifelong interests. In the late 1980s in her mid-fifties, she taught ballet to children in classes at the River Theatre in Waco, Texas and this brought her immense joy.
Frieda was preceded in death by her husband Hamad, her brothers: Adolf, Karl Heinz, Alvin, and Manfred, and her sister Erika.
Frieda is survived by her sister Rosemarie, four children: Jasmine, Joseph, Jamal, and Haniyah; two grandsons: Kendall and Atticus; one great-grandson David; and many nephews and nieces with their extended families.
