Emmett Foster Keiffer of Plano, Texas, died on February 3, 2011 while in hospice care at Founders Plaza in Wylie, Texas. He was 77. Emmett is the son of Edwin and Eunice Keiffer, along with brother E. Gene Keiffer, all deceased. He is survived by Mary Ann Keiffer, his wife of 52 years, as well as son Mark Keiffer, daughter Anna Marie Russell, daughter Karen Schuch and son-in-law Bret Schuch and their two children Madeleine and Phoebe, along with various cousins, nephews and nieces and in-laws. Having been born during the Great Depression, Emmett knew that any good fortune that he was to attain in life would come through hard work, perseverance, and faith in our God Almighty. Emmett was a graduate of North Texas State University, having put himself through school, an accomplishment of which he was quite proud. Emmett was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. Afterward, Emmett embarked on a very successful 32 year career with U.S. Gypsum, becoming one of their top performing sales reps in the company. Emmett also enjoyed many successful years in the homebuilding industry, constructing several homes in the West Plano area. Emmett was a friend to many and a stranger to few, a lover of great conversation and one who was always eager to share a laugh. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. We will never forget you Emmett, devoted husband, father, and friend. Rest with God’s Peace. Services will be held at St. Marks the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plano, Texas, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 12th. A lunch reception including a time of eulogy will immediately follow. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Biesenberger, Bill Reilly, Paul Kaplan, John Cole, Ron Minner, Valter Hale, Bryant Hood, Durrie Caldwell, Gary Yancey, Jimmy Young and Jack Terry.
