Known by all that loved her, Geri was born on September 21, 1947 in East St. Louis, Illinois, daughter of Irene (Holland) Taylor and Sylvester Taylor. She married Larry Wayne Carter Sr. on February 1, 1969 in East St. Louis, Illinois and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2020 after 51 years of marriage. Geri proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
She is survived by son Larry Wayne Carter Jr. of Plano, Texas and daughter Michelle Irene (husband Cary) Walker of Beaumont, Texas. She is survived by her sisters Marion Covington and Gloria (husband Clarence) McQuary and brother Robert Terry Taylor. She is preceded in death by sister Lorene Boyd, brothers James Taylor, William Taylor, Melvin Taylor, Carlton Taylor and Kenneth Taylor.
Geri loved spending time with her family and enjoyed the arts, as well as taking care of her flower garden.
A family gathering will be held at the family home on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from noon to 3pm.
