Gloria Mae Lobaugh

Gloria Mae Davis Lobaugh was born in Tampa, FL, the first of six children. She and her family eventually moved to Milledgeville, GA in the 1940’s, where her father, Laurance Davis, operated a five-and-dime store during World War II.

David D. Lobaugh, Jr., her husband-to-be, was stationed at nearby Camp Wheeler in Macon. They met in Milledgeville when he was on a weekend pass, and were married on January 18, 1945, in Oklahoma City – at the home of his parents, David D. Sr. and Helen Lobaugh.

Post-War, her husband joined the Shell Oil Co., beginning a series of assignments and travels that took Gloria from Oklahoma City and Tulsa to New York-New Jersey, Colorado, Louisiana, California, Illinois, Texas, and Alberta, Canada. In retirement David and Gloria returned to Milledgeville, GA in the late 70’s, and ultimately settled in Plano, TX, in 2007.

On every step along the way, Gloria was the captain of the ship, master of the home. When it came to homemaking, she was the best cook, hostess, housekeeper, and most of all, the best mother and Nana.

Through the years, Gloria and her husband traveled the world, on a number of ocean cruises, plus visits to London, Paris, Lucerne, Rome, Venice, Mexico, Egypt, Greece, Israel, and Turkey.

She is survived by her brother, Wilbur Davis, her sister, Mary Harding, and her three children, David Lobaugh III, William Robert Lobaugh, and Laurie Ann Mahoney. She had 7 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
