Gordon Leon Jones

Gordon Leon Jones was born on August 2, 1936 in Ft Smith, Arkansas, to Ralph and Alice Jones. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ft. Smith and attended Lutheran School through the 9th grade. He attended Northside High School in Ft. Smith and played basketball and track. Graduating in 1954.

He attended New Mexico State College in Las Cruces NM before going into the Army.

He served in the Army for 6 years, May 1962 to April 1968, and was sent to Korea in 1963.

Gordon had a love of football. He loved his Dallas Cowboys Football Team and the Arkansas Razorback. He would cheer them on every year as he was a devoted fan of both, Win or Lose.

He married Paula Ilene Buchanan on July 20, 1972 and lived in Tulsa, OK. They moved to Plano, TX in 1978 to present. He worked in retail and as a Security Guard in the Plano, TX and Richardson, TX area for about 40 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alice Jones, his brother, John Paul Jones and his wife, Paula Ilene Jones.

Survived by his step children, Jana Jo Simpson (Skip) of San Antonio, TX and Charles (Bo) Buchanan (Jody) of Gordonville, TX, Grandchildren, Mechelle Dubois of Magnolia, DE, Brandi Jo Sanner of Houston, TX, Kyle Simpson of San Antonio, TX, Brook Buchanan of Allen, TX and James Buchanan of Gordonville, TX, Great Grandchildren, 1 Great, Great Granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews, Joilynn George, James Gordon Jones and Stephanie Jones from Tennessee.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas 75074.

A graveside service will follow, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Plano Mutual Cemetery, across the street from the Ted Dickey Funeral Home, where Gordon will be laid to rest with his wife who preceded him in death in 2015.
