Inge was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, sharing her love for travel with her husband, Harry, and her passion for helping others. She enjoyed many activities such as being a Red Cross Gray Lady volunteer in the old VA hospital in McKinney, starting the first Brownie troop in Plano with Dixie Clem, and helping customers find the “perfect outfit” at DeVasher’s fashions. She was the volunteer room mother every year of her daughters’ school years in Plano. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church Garland for 32 years before transferring to Resurrection Lutheran Church of Plano in 1997. Inge was a participant in the Brown Bag and Bible study group, Stitching Girls, and the Primetimers at RLC. Inge was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a mother advisor of the Order of Rainbow for girls. In later years she enjoyed membership in the International Woman’s Club and serving as “First Lady” of Plano when her husband Harry served as mayor from 1968-70.
Inge was born on April 16, 1924 in Hirschberg, Germany to Herman Klein and Elizabeth (Neimann) Klein. She met the love of her life, Harry Rowlinson, while he was stationed in Germany during World War 2. Harry was instrumental in coordinating her move to the United States after the war and they married in St. Louis, Missouri on December 18, 1947, shortly after she arrived.
Inge is survived by her only child, Ingrid, and son-in-law Tim Miller of Granbury, Texas. She is also survived by her granddaughter Shannon Miller of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry and grandson Matthew Miller.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas 75074.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas where Inge will be laid to rest with her husband Harry.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1919 Independence Parkway, Plano, TX 75075 or a charity of your choice.
