

Ron was born October 5, 1954 to Julia Elizabeth and James Robert Butler and raised in Lipscomb, Alabama. Ron graduated from Hueytown High School in 1973. After High School he moved to Texas to pursue work in the telecommunication industry where he spent most of his career at MCI Communications.
Ron had a lifelong fascination with astronomy, weather, and the vast wonders of nature. He was endlessly intrigued by rockets, satellites, and all things related to space. Ron also had a strong appreciation for music, which he enjoyed most by attending concerts with friends and family. Ron was an avid sports fan and took great joy in following and supporting his favorite teams. Above all, he loved his family and was a devoted and present father and grandfather, spending countless hours with his family at the racetrack or ball field, proudly supporting them and cherishing every moment together.
Ron is survived by his son, Ian Barsch and daughter in law Rachel; his beloved grandchildren Tanner, Brennan, and Hannah Barsch; nieces Kelli Wilkins (Rick), Tara McCallister (Irwin), and Keisha Glass (Josh), 11 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents Julia Elizabeth Butler and James Robert Butler, his sisters Joan McBrayer and Janet Smith, and nephew Brett McBrayer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074. The service is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Texas Parks and Wildlife in Ron’s memory. This tribute honors his deep love of nature and his appreciation for the outdoors, preserving the spaces he cherished for years to come.
