

Jan Lyn Cooper (Prather), 79, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on January 2, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Lee Cooper.
Jan is lovingly remembered by her sons, Rusty Cooper and Kevin Cooper; her daughter, Lisa Spratt; her son-in-law, Steve Spratt; her cherished grandsons, Aiden and Mason Spratt; her brother, Jon Prather; her sisters-in-law, Fritzi Prather and Cynthia Lee; her brother-in-law, Alan Lee; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cousin, Toni Annis. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in watching them grow.
A lifelong horse lover, Jan spent many years teaching children to ride at Heritage Hill Equestrian Center (“the Barn”), where her patience, encouragement, and gentle spirit helped build confidence in generations of young riders. She also had an enormous heart for animals and was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Avalon Memory Care in Allen for the compassion, dignity, and kindness they showed Jan throughout her illness. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
