Janet was born on September 25, 1945 in Washington, Iowa, to Charles Dixon West and Reba Faye (Garrett) West.
She was the loving mother of Rebecca Hanna of Aledo, Illinois, Jennifer Guidry (Jared) of Plano, Texas, and Merry Perez (Andy) of Moline, Illinois.
Her greatest joys were her six grandchildren: James (Rebecca) Saner, Seajaye (Ory) Raisbeck, Michael Zug, Madelynn Perez, Mikaela Perez, and Hanna Guidry, plus four great-grandchildren, Ross Saner, Jackson Saner, Kennedy Saner, and Kasson Pierce, in addition to her fifth great-grandchild due in November.
She is also survived by her dear sister, Joyce Brown of Cave Creek, Arizona, sister-in-law Hazel West of Pukalani, Hawaii, and many nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charley, mother Reba, and brother Bill.
Janet graduated from Washington High School and then attended Burlington Business College before marrying. She devoted her life to staying home to raise her children. She re-entered the workforce full-time in 1985, working in Accounts Payable. She moved to Plano, Texas in 1999 and worked in Accounts Payable for Medical City of Plano, and later Texas Health Resources-Plano.. She loved working with all of the friends she made from different departments. She was most proud of being Employee of the Month in 2005. She retired in 2015, after 15 years at THR-Plano.
She celebrated retirement with a trip to Maui with her sister, sister-in-law, daughter Jennifer, niece, and nephew. She loved playing cards weekly, going to movies, and out to eat with her girlfriends, as well as taking a few trips to Branson, Missouri. She was an avid football fan, and loved cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, the LSU Tigers, and the Dallas Cowboys. She adored her grand-children and great-grandchildren, and kept up with their activities through social media. She treasured her annual visits “home” to Iowa/Illinois to see them.
Her family would like to thank the kind doctors and staff at Texas Oncology, Paragon Health, Resilient Healthcare, Texas Health Presbyterian-Plano, and Faith Presbyterian’s T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center for their compassionate care they provided to her for the past 7 months. Her family is comforted by the fact that she is now with her Lord and Savior.
