

Jay was a one-of-a-kind man whose personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A hardworking paint contractor by trade, he took pride in his work and the life he built through dedication and grit. Beyond his profession, Jay was known for truly living life on his own terms.
He found joy in the simple pleasures—hunting, spending time outdoors, and enjoying a cold beer with friends. Jay cherished his time at the American Legion, where he formed many lasting friendships. He was also a devoted fan of old western shows, often relaxing with the familiar stories and characters he loved.
Above all, Jay treasured his role as a “Papaw.” His grandchildren brought him immense pride and happiness, and he loved spending time with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Jay is survived by his mother, Wanda Stewart; his siblings, Stanley Terwort, Kenneth Terwort Jr., Susann Rister, Debra Stewart, and Pam Winters and her husband Duane; his children, Mary Mills and her husband Scott, Cary Terwort, Jason Terwort, and Andrea Martinez and her husband Nick; his grandchildren James Mills, Lance Mills, Derrick Mills, Matthew Mills, Bryce Terwort, Dalton Miranda, Aryana Miranda, Shelby Martinez-Kaulfus and her husband Austin, and Nicholas Martinez; and his great grandchildren Emory Kaulfus, Everett Kaulfus, Madeline Terwort, Alex Mills, Alice Mills, Royal Miranda, and Renezmay Miranda.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debra Williams; his father, Kenneth Terwort; his brother Rodney Stewart and his sister, Ruth Ann Gilbert.
Jay will be remembered as a unique character with a big presence, a strong spirit, and a deep love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
