JoAnne Melton Hines, 66, of Allen, Texas, died on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in McKinney, Texas. Joanne was born on Dec. 13, 1955, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Dwight Matthew Melton and Verleen M. (Mathis) Melton. She married Kim Hines on June 3,1977, in Tempe, Arizona.
Passionate is one word you could use to describe JoAnne as she was passionate about many things throughout her life being a faithful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for over 20 years with the Special Olympics, participated in Meals on Wheels and often took meals to the homeless.
A founding member of Suncreek United Methodist Church in Allen, Mission work was another passion. She loved mission work, often taking her children and grandchildren on mission trips throughout the country. She even went to Ciudad Juárez in Mexico where she help build someone’s house. She was also very active in the Salvation Army.
JoAnne was passionate about animals! She especially loved her own pets including her dogs, cats, birds and sugar gliders. JoAnne also loved art. She was a watercolorist, and enjoyed sketching, photography and antiques. She also loved to travel going on 11 cruises throughout her life!
JoAnne is survived by her husband Kim Hines of Allen; three children: Christine (husband Mark) Vincent of McKinney, Janae Hines of Allen, and Jakob Hines of Allen; seven grandchildren: Adrain (wife Braizee) Vincent, Enjoli Vincent, Kalvon Howard, Kendrick Hines, Autumn Vincent, Alex Vincent and Thursdae Sierocki; and one great granddaughter belonging to Enjoli Vincent, Aaliyah Crew. She is also survived by her brother Michael (wife Becci) Melton of Queen Creek, Arizona.
A Celebration of Life for JoAnne will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at the Joe Farmer Recreation Center in Allen, 1201 E. Bethany Drive, Allen Texas 75002.
Rev. Matt Gaston from the First United Methodist Church of Plano will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in JoAnne’s memory to the Special Olympics or the mission of your choice.
Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas has charge of arrangements.
