

He leaves behind his wife of sixty-four years, Angela Garza, his sisters Maria Rodriguez, Adella Walker, Janie Garza, and his brother Joe Garza. He is also survived by his daughter, Virginia Horton; his sons, Johnny P. Garza and Arturo Garza; his grandsons, Michael P. Garza and John W. L. Garza; his granddaughters, Sabrina L. Garza and Tabitha S. Garza; his great grandchildren, Alexus Garza, Gabrielle Garza, Isabel Martinez, and Miles H. Martinez.
John (Pop or Popo to friends and family) was born September 1, 1934 in Floresville, Texas, to Pedro and Leonarda Garza. He was sixteen when the family moved to Kaufman, Texas and it was there that he met and married Angela Rodriguez on September 25, 1954. He was employed as a maintenance worker at Frisco ISD and then the family moved to Plano in the late sixties, where he found employment at Plano ISD in the plumbing department. While working at Plano ISD, he met his life-long friend and cohort, Charles (patrón) Raper. He retired after thirty-eight years and spent his retirement working around the house and spending time with his family and friends.
