John Gurley

John Robert Gurley passed away on November 17, 2010 after a long illness. John was born September 8, 1937 in Bogata, Texas. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Dana, and son-in-law Leo Cantu. John and Carolyn were married in 1955 and he joined the Navy shortly thereafter. He served in the Naval Security Agency and retired in 1974 as a Senior Chief Communications Technician. During that time John, Carolyn, their family had an interesting life living in Morocco, Scotland, Japan, Canada, & Hawaii. After retiring from the Navy, John worked at Rockwell Int. and Ratheon and retired from Ratheon in 1999. He was preceded in death by two of his children, daughter Donna in 1979, and son Rust in 1999. John died in peace knowing he would be buried by the side of his two beloved children in Lufkin, Texas. He leaves behind not only his loving wife, daughter, and son-in-law, but also many friends. The family of John Gurley extends their thanks to friends at Assured Health, the wonderful staff at Presbyterian Hospital and especially to Dr. John Hughes.
