Command Sergeant Major, John Ross Jr, after over 30 years, retired with honors from the U.S. Army in 1975.
John continued his career in managing one of the National Car Rental in El Paso, Texas for 15 years.
He has enjoyed his permanent retirement for 28 years! John was known as a devoted husband, dad and grandfather. He was also a devout Catholic, very spirited, jovial, witty, and energetic. Some friends said that he was such a talker that “his lips never met” (like his sister, Louise) or that he is so energetic that he is like the “Mexican jumping bean!” John loved and enjoyed time with his family and many friends around the world.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Hermine Reintjes. They met in Germany, in 1957, married in 1960 and have been together for an amazing 61 years. They have a loving son, Michael. He was a miracle birthday present on Hermine’s 41st birthday! Mike is married to Mee Brown and Johnny is the grandson.
John is also survived by a son and daughter from his first marriage, Phillip Ross and Debra Sutterfield. Phillip has one son, Jared and a step daughter, Tiffany. Debra has a daughter, Teresa Sutterfield Lewis, who is married to Gregg and has three great grandchildren, Justin, Kayleigh, and Blake.
John’s sister, Gladys Louise Kubich, lives in North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his ex-wife, Patsy Lisenbe, his older sister, Mary Jane, and his parents.
